Which companies should perform a regulatory audit?

What is an occupational health and safety audit?

When should the first regulatory audit be performed?

How often should the regulatory audit be repeated?

Companies which have not contracted the prevention service with a specialist entity must submit their prevention system to the control of an external audit or evaluation (article 29.2 of the Prevention Services Regulation, Royal Decree 39/1997, of 17 January). Likewise, companies which carry out preventive activities with their own and external resources must submit their prevention system to the control of an external audit or evaluation (article 29.2 of the Prevention Services Regulation, Royal Decree 39/1997, of 17 January). The Occupational Health and Safety management system audit is therefore compulsory for companies which choose any of the following systems of preventive organisation:

  • Responsibility for the performing the preventive activity assumed by the company.
  • Appointment of worker(s) in charge of this activity.
  • Setting up the company's own prevention service.
  • Setting up joint prevention services. »
